Zarina Walele

Zarina Walele was admitted as an attorney of the Cape Provincial Division (as it was known then) in 1987 and is practising for her own account under the name and style of Zarina Walele Attorneys since 2000. The practice focuses mainly on Employment Law servicing both Private Corporations as well as Government Departments.

She has vast experience in Corporate labour law having been a Group Labour Lawyer for a large chemical company between 1997- 2000. It is in the latter regard, that she distinguishes herself from other law firms in that she has a broad understanding of labour relations; collective bargaining, trade union relations and its relation to the operations in a business.

She  conducts many Investigations into workplace breaches and represents Clients in prosecuting at disciplinary hearings. She also sits as a chairperson of disciplinary hearings.

As Senior lecturer at the Technikon Southern Africa during 1990-1996 she was responsible for the legislative module for the National Diploma in Safety Management thus equipping her with a sound knowledge of the health and safety legislative framework in Industries and Mines.

She is a member of the disciplinary committee of the Law Society of the Northern Province.

She is an accredited commissioner of the CCMA and serves on several Bargaining Councils as a Mediator and Arbitrator.

She is also a Private Mediator and Arbitrator on the Tokiso Dispute Resolution Agency panel. She also conducts training programmes in the various areas of Employment Law and was a member of the training panel for the Inspectorate in the Department of Labour. She was appointed as Acting Judge of the Labour Court, Johannesburg in 2012, 2013 and 2015 .
